We were all set up waiting for everyone to arrive at Beacon Park following the procession and the crowning of the Bower Queen at the Guildhall. When there was a terrific ‘roar’ and there they were in full throttle getting in position it was ‘Big Pete’ and the ‘Grim Reaper’. What truly magnificent machines they are and they truly captured everyone’s attention as they ‘performed’ during the afternoons activities. From tug of war to driving over wrecked cars it was a performance not to be missed.

We had loads of fun handing out our ‘Buy Local’ bags and chatting to residents and visitors, alike finding out their favourite Lichfield businesses. Thebestoflichfield mini got many an admiring glance and we met with several young people whose parents were unable to drag them away from our car!!

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with us it was lovely to hear so many positive comments about Lichfield. It was wonderful to see Beacon Park buzzing with activity and Lichfield ‘heaving’ with the crowds that came to visit and see the tradition that is the Lichfield Bower.

Congratulations must go to the Lichfield Bower committee for doing it all again this year and to the team at Beacon Park for when I walked through it on Tuesday it looked spotless and nobody would have known it had been filled with over 30,000 people the day before!

Makes you proud doesn't it.........
