Here's some great tips from Joy at Shaw Lane Flowers in Lichfield for looking after those flowers that you will be inundated with on Valentine's Day!

Tips on keeping Valentine's flowers in tip-top condition.

If you are lucky enough to receive a beautiful bouquet on Valentine's Day here are a few ways on how to keep it looking its best for as long as possible.

Many flowers these days arrive already arranged so just make sure the oasis doesn't dry out - this can happen after only a couple of days in our warm houses.  Spritzing once or twice a day with cold water is also good and try not to place them too near a radiator.

If you find any flowers droop very quickly try cutting off a small piece of the stem and place them in water in a cool place for a couple of hours.

For flowers that arrive in a more traditional bouquet - cutting the stem ends off, removing some of the foliage and putting them in a bucket of cold water in a cool place for several hours will greatly increase their lifespan.

Many thanks to Joy, and if you haven't sorted your beloved's bouquet yet, Shaw Lane Flowers have a great special offer of Free luxury chocolates with your bouquet (for orders over £45).
