Like a good birthday party?  Then pop along to Samuel Johnson Museum on September 20th and join in the celebrations.

Celebrating the 305th birthday of Lichfield's famous son, all visitors will receive a FREE slice of birthday cake from Hindleys Bakery (whilst stocks last) and enjoy some fantastic activities throughout the day.

The museum will open at 10:30am until 4:30pm but all are invited to meet on the Market Square at 12 noon to watch the Mayor lay a wreath on the statue of Johnson, accompanied by traditional hymns. This will follow with the wonderful Intimate Theatre  who will entertain with light-hearted drama ‘Everything you never knew about Dr Johnson’.

The Museum is delighted to be taking part in Lichfield Heritage Weekend and welcomes visitors to visit the birthplace museum to discover fascinating facts about Johnson and his home.  The library will also be open for a behind-the-scenes peek at some of the collection that isn’t often displayed, including rare letters by Johnson and other Lichfield legends.

The Johnson Society will also be marking Johnson’s Birthday with their traditional supper at Lichfield Guildhall in the evening, where current President Peter Martin will hand over his badge to President elect, Professor Jock Murray.
