Less than one week in to the holidays and I think I am going under. Running my own business I had thought, great, this is what real flexible working is all about. Fit the kids around the work, fit the work around the kids, muddle along and everybody's happy. Oh how naive I was! No customer wants to hear your kids arguing over the Wii remote (or nunchuck or whatever it's called) in the background, while you discuss the local ecomic climate with them. Likewise the kids are less than impressed when you keep answering the phone while you're supposed to be playing schools with them (why, when they've just broken up from a long and tiring year do little girls immediately start playing schools?).
Anyway I have decided after a quick look through my very own events section and take advantage of the brilliant council run playschemes which are on all through the holidays. We've used them before and the kids have a great time while I actualy get some work done. There's badminton, trampolining, swimming and loads of other stuff going on as well as the all day playschemes. And the swimming at Friary Grange and Burntwood is something like 50p for kids. Better check with them first, this could be dodgy info!
So while they're having a whale of a time I can catch up and get ahead....unless of course Loose Women is still on the telly.... or now that I think about it maybe I could get a round of golf in at St. Thomas Priory....................................
