G-STEP provide a unique Data Information Services FREE to Leicester and East Midland SME Businesses

The G-STEP team are funded to run this ERDF GIS Data Information Service for Leicester and East Midland based businesses from the SME sector.
This is a FREE business service to support you in the use of “earth observation data” from satellites, aerial imagery and ground sensors.
You can be trained in the use of a GIS (Geographic Information System), to assist with data processing and licensed for 12 months to use this Free of Charge.
There are stacks of data and information that come with this service:
Satellite Imagery; many images of the earth from space are available for your brochures, websites and other branding material. Some of the more localised images are also available for use in certain business formats.
With Aerial Imagery and data you will have access to various sets of information including “automated tree mapping” and the ability to model terrain. These are derived data products and G-STEP will train you in processing methods for you to use the data.And if you have an application for the available data we have not considered yet we will research it for you and if possible, supply you with a workable model and the training to utilise it.
There are many Ground Based Sensors that can measure things such as air quality, temperature, humidity and ground movement all of which are part of the data information service we provide to you here in Leicester.
Examples of data from all three sources include air quality, temperature, subsidence, land and feature heights, solar irradiance, land cover, and vegetation growth.
If there is any physical attribute data that will help your business to grow and improve that we don’t already access, we can investigate buying data on behalf of your project. We can then supply the data in a format useful to you and your business along with any necessary training. We use our own Leicester office for training workshops.
If you have your own database of information, for example a client or prospect list, with postcode or other location information we can show you how to drop that onto a local map allowing you to plan your customer or prospect visits in advance.
This is a great opportunity for Leicester and East Midland small businesses to benefit from data information services normally only afforded by larger companies.
