Travelling Light To A Screen Near You
A brand new play starring awardwinning actor Antony Sher is to be screened live at The Dukes cinema in Lancaster this February.
Directed by Nicholas Hytner, Travelling Light tells the story of Motl, a young man fascinated with the flickering silent photographs on his father’s cinematograph.
With help from Jacob, played by Sher, Motl creates a series of moving pictures taken of his village, which revolutionise storytelling.
Forty years on, Mortl is now a famous American film director looking back on his early dreams and confronting the cost of fulfilling them.
The play is a funny, fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age and a haunting look at the stories we tell about our own lives.
Now is your chance to see Travelling Light on February 9 without having to leave Lancaster through NT Live that broadcasts live performances of National Theatre plays onto cinema screens worldwide.
The Dukes has been screening NT Live since it began and all performances have proved very popular so advance booking is recommended.
Tickets cost £13/£12(concessions) and can be booked at The Dukes Box Office on 01524 598500 or online at www.dukes-lancaster.org.
