A Masquerade Ball held recently by Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce has raised £1070 for CancerCare and St Johnâs Hospice.

The Ball, which was held at the iconic art-deco Midland Hotel in Morecambe on Friday 25th October, was the first ever Ball held by the Chamber and was well attended by local businesses from the Lancaster district.

Guests at the black tie and evening gown event were treated to a sparkling wine reception, a delicious 4 course meal, auction and DJ at the luxurious venue.

Vicky Lofthouse, the new Manager at the Chamber of Commerce commented, 'It was truly delightful to see so many Members and their guests enjoying themselves, dressed up to the nines behind their masks. It was a fantastic night, that was over too soon and I look forward to working with my new team to organise next year's social extravaganzaâ.

The main sponsors of the event were PhotoBaby, Market Gate Shopping Centre and Printing Plus who have helped provide a range of services for the event including themed goody bags and lots of free gifts.

The Chamber would like to thank them and all the businesses who donated all the magnificent raffle and auction prizes for the night, which included a Taste of Morecambe Bay Hamper a Morecambe FC Hospitality Table for 10 Peopleâ and a 3 Course Sunday Lunch for 4 at Longlandâs Hotel.

The money raised will be divided equally between CancerCare and St John's Hospice. Joanne Humphrey, Community Fundraiser for St Johnâs Hospice said, "We were thrilled and honoured to be one of the beneficiaries of the Masquerade Ball and are always grateful for the support of the Chamber. The evening was fantastic with everyone making a wonderful effort with their beautiful masks! The money raised on the night will go directly to providing care to patients on our ward, in our day hospice and also for people being cared for in the comfort of their own homes, by our Hospice at Home team. Thank you so muchâ"

CancerCare's Fundraising Team Leader for the area Jane Staniford, who attended the event, commented, "CancerCare was delighted to be one of two nominated local charities to benefit from the auction at the Chambers Masquerade Ball within the elegant backdrop of The Midland Hotel. As ever a great opportunity to network with local businesses and representatives and to help raise awareness of CancerCareâs services in our community".
