Sat night we dined at the Canbury Arms a place chosen by my Nephew for his birthday after reading and hearing nothing but good things about the pub.
I’m writing this still in shock and anger at how bad things were in the so called Gastro pub of the year.The tables were out in the conservatory and with it being December you would of thought that they would have heaters to take the chill out of the air.Oh no,A request for the heaters to be turned on was met with a “I’m sorry they are not working and there’s nothing i can do about it” we should of taken this as a clue as to how the rest of the night would pan out.In Summery because 1000 words are not enough to tell how bad it actually was.The starter was a measly 5 very thin strips of smoked salmon. Main course was a tower of meat perched on 3 rock hard roast potatoes which i later found out are deep fat fried. Brussel sprouts that could smash a window along with denture braking green beans.And cheese cake that was dry.£27.50 rip off

From breakfast through to dinner, you will find lots of dishes to tempt you. At present the home made lemon curd is to die for, it comes free with toast when breakfast coffee or tea is purchased!, the jams and marmalade are just as good. The menu is regularly changed and patrons comments are collected, acted upon and listened to. Theme occasions are well attended, and the staff carefully trained.
Michael Pearson is a committed, community minded host and his only raison is for you to enjoy your visit or he wants to know.

The Canbury Arms is a great place to visit whether its a simple quick lunch, a sunday roast with family and friends or a quiet drink. The food is superb the service is outstanding and the atmosphere warm and relaxing. This place is unmissable.

You can always be sure of a warm welcome at The Canbury Arms...not just because of the cosy fire as you enter, but from the genuinely friendly staff too!

Consistently good-value good-food & wines are the main attraction of course, but the ambiance certainly draws you back again and again!

An owner who listens and acts upon suggestions, who is innovative. A wonderful kitchen, producing very fine food. A divine haggis, garlic mash with braised red cabbage was a highlight of yesterday's lunch. Breakfast time is so well run. A 'very' regular!

The Canbury Arms has developed a great understanding of "customer"; the atmosphere, attitude of the staff, quality of food and variety of drinks. I have been a customer for 4 years. I come here at least once a week because they really care and DELIVER QUALITY!
That says it all in my opinion!!!
