The Canbury Arms is one of Kingston’s most historic gastro pubs. It was built by Hobsons Brewery in the 1880s – a community pub built at the same time as a lot of community housing in the area. Today, The Canbury Arms is one of the few remaining Hobson’s gastro pubs in Kingston.

In March 2005, The Canbury Arms was lovingly restored by its current owner Mike Pearson. It has been given a modern twist but still retains its historic feel with oak floors, bar and furniture. In a nutshell, it exists to provide good food, good wine and good beer.

Today The Canbury Arms not only a fabulous gastro pub offering great food - it also features a busy calendar of events including wine tasting, jazz music, Irish music and more. A really memorable night out in Kingston!

For all times of the day

The Canbury Arms suits all custom. It opens at 9am for coffee, and provides a comfortable meeting place for many parents after the school run to enjoy a coffee and chat. Kingston’s business people drop in for breakfast meetings and working lunches, and groups of friends often call in for afternoon coffee.

The evenings often start off with professionals popping in for after-work drinks, before people start arriving for dinner (which is served until 10pm).

A top chef

The head chef at The Canbury Arms is Simon Andrews who has worked at L’Escargot in Soho and at the Tate Modern. The cuisine is traditional British pub food with French and Italian influences. The chef brings his own experience to the cuisine.

All produce is sourced from the UK's finest food suppliers. Fish comes direct from Matthew Stevens in Cornwall and pedigree Ryeland Lamb, Middle White Pork and Longhorn Beef are delivered fresh from Huntsham Farm in Symonds Yat, Herefordshire. Vegetables come direct from Secretts Farm.

Superb facilities

The Canbury Arms has a beer garden in addition to its indoor bar. This is accessible at all times of the year, as it is covered and heated during colder months.


There is also hire space available for up to 100 people.

Award winning

The Canbury Arms was nominated for four South London business awards. It won the Best New Business Award in 2007.
