The Kensington and Chelsea Conservative Association
about us
Taking pre-school learning to the next level.
The inspiration for Culture Kids came from founder Mia Holman's travels round the world - firstly, through her work as a nanny and then as a traveller in her own right.
Along the way, she collected toys, books, costumes, puppets and musical instruments, all with the aim of using them to educate and enrich the lives of children back home.
Mia started Culture Kids in 2004 and the company now has over 500 pupils a week. Venues are noticeably better than the average for pre-school classes and three are located in Kensington and Chelsea.
Courses are for a maximum of 12 children and are overseen by a qualified, experienced and CRB checked member of staff. The atmosphere is easy and relaxed; the aim is always to ensure that the children have fun and make friends as they learn.
As Mia says "A child's brain is like a sponge, the more information you fill it with, the more it will absorb. You are never too young to learn through fun! We dance, sing, dress up, read stories and do role-play which all adds up to a fun packed 45 minute session."
Music
Music classes have a different theme each week e.g. Thailand, Australia or Mexico. Children listen to the music of the country and learn about its animals and people, as well as playing percussion instruments and trying on costumes and masks.
Art
Culture Craft courses allow children to embrace their creative side before starting school. Each session features three creative projects sharing a common theme and providing an introduction to basic art skills like painting, drawing and collage.
Cookery
Pupils at the cookery classes have successfully prepared dishes from over 60 countries, including sushi from Japan, pukacaps from Bolivia and Australian damper.
These 1hr20min courses also feature an art or craft project relating to the country.
Holiday classes
Art and craft workshop on Wednesday 12th and 19th August.
To be held at 1 Chelsea Manor street and suitable for children between the ages of 2-8.
Class times will be at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm and will last for 55 minutes.

Mia organised my son's 5th birthday party and I can honestly say it was an absolutely stress free experience. Mia is calm, organised and professional She contributed a host of original and fun ideas and provided a top to bottom service meaning all we had to do was pretty much turn up and enjoy the party. All the children joined in the fun, whilst all the parents were commenting on what a great party it was. I would recommend her without hesitation. Well done you
Mia, thank you for the wonderful entertainment you provided for Dillon's party. I wanted you to know that your singing, dancing and spectacular props really were the life of the party! Thank you.
Max and I attend the Hampstead culture kids on Tuesdays at 3pm and have done since Max was 9 months (he's now nearly 20). Anyway, we are now leaving London to head to leafy Hertfordshire and I just wanted to say a huge thank you. We have both adored Barb and all the lessons. Max just loves it and I'm so sorry to be leaving. I just wanted you to know that we've got hundreds of special memories to treasure thanks to Culture Kids and Barbs totally enigmatic and wonderful cheery personality. She is an absolute gem. Really sorry to be leaving and hope it comes to Harpenden soon! Thank you.
Mia, just to say how brilliantly Lucy ran the party today - all the children enjoyed it SO much, and Lucy was completely lovely with them all, and so energetic and enthusiastic. She was also really hands on, and mucked in helping us get ready for the party and clearing up afterwards. Above and beyond the call of duty. Everyone said how brilliant she was, and how fun the party was, so thank you all. Please do pass on our thanks. We will recommend the parties to everyone!
