So it there's going to be no fireworks display in Islington again this year. It's a real shame that this seems to have dropped off the calendar altogether. It's was 1999 when Highbury fields held the last council run fireworks display, although I'm sure there'll be plenty of impromptu fireworks going off all over Islington on the 7th!
So where to go if you want to see some fireworks and live in Islington? The best bet I guess is going to be Alexandra Palace. They are promising a huge display with activities going on all day including live music fairground rides and food and drink stalls. There'll even be an indoor German beer festival.
It is a real shame there's none in Islington but I guess the council just doesn't have the money in these times of major cuts and lay offs especially after 20,000 people turned up to the last one they held making it a health and safety nightmare
