The Council’s Planning & Development Committee approved the plans, which will result in a cinema taking up most of the empty space formerly occupied by department store TJ Hughes. The new development includes restaurants and cafes on the upper floor of the shopping centre. The cinema will offer a total of 1,350 seats. It is hoped that work will begin at the end of the year, with the cinema being open for business by next autumn.
