Fuel For Life - campaign launch event

The campaign launch event took place at Seckford Hall Woodbridge.

In attendance were, representatives from Community First Responder Units: Woodbridge, Sutton, Hollesley, Alderton, Shottisham, Bawdsey, Sutton, Sudbury, Wattisham, Maldon, Bentley Capel and Tattingstone, RAF Henlow, Martlesham Heath and Adastral Park and John Stepney from the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes.

Presentations were delivered from the founder of the campaign Sarah Jones, East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust Rob Ashford and Chairman of NABB John Stepney.

Sarah explained that by working in partnership and alongside the two organisations, Fuel for Life will raise their public profiles on many different platforms, enhance their online visibility and the general overall public understanding of what they do. In doing so gaining them the much needed funds to keep these valuable community services operational.

Rob Ashford, Director of Service Delivery said “we would like to thank the charity Fuel for Life for helping our local community first responder schemes raise valuable funds for much needed lifesaving equipment, and for raising the profile of the volunteers within the areas they serve. Community First Responders provide lifesaving treatment to patients within their community, and this additional support and expertise will help the volunteers to promote all that they do.”

John Stepney – Chairman of the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes which represents the interests of Blood Bike Riders across the country, who outlined the role NABB plays in aiding all of its Blood Bike Rider groups under is membership and how they are constantly building on partnerships with hospitals, the air ambulance, milk banks and the blood service.

The current yearly target that needs to be raised is a staggering £1,605,000*. This is divided up between the 30 Blood Bike organisations and the 270 Community First Responders, covering their ongoing costs for medical kits, uniforms, insurance and much more. *NB: Costs are approximate based on the individual group needs and at time of print

Lots of fundraising events will be taking place under the Fuel For Life banner as well as the ongoing fundraising events the groups hold within their local communities.
