And those facilities are on offer to young and adult riders alike, here at Swilland, just outside Ipswich.
Formed more than 45 years ago, Newton Hall prides itself on not only being one of the best riding schools, but also has practical training, courses and riding clubs available throughout the year.
Situated only five miles from Ipswich, it has the Newton Hall Arena 60m x 30m (one of the largest indoor arenas in East Anglia), two all-weather outdoor, floodlit arenas, an indoor school and cross-country fences, all set in 45 acres of beautiful grassland in the Suffolk countryside.
With the Newton Hall Arena and our two outdoor arenas, we are open 365 days of the year, with evening courses popular.
At Newton Hall, we are one of the few equitation centres in Suffolk and Norfolk to be both a British Horse Society (BHS) Approved Riding Centre and Livery Yard. We give instruction and hold exams on site in riding and jumping up to and including BHSAI examinations.
All our instructors are BHS qualified and we have more than 60 horses and ponies, which are schooled regularly to maintain a good level of training.

For more than 20 years, equine students from outside colleges have continued to receive their practical training for National Certificate qualifications in Horse Management from Newton Hall's instructors.

NHEC - getting started in riding
Newton Hall Equitation Centre gives young people the ideal start by providing tuition, which is safe, interesting and fun. Children of all ages can learn to ride well-mannered ponies with qualified instructors.
Pony rides are available to enable younger children to gain confidence before progressing to lessons.
Improving your riding
The more experienced rider is able to join advanced lessons to allow them to enjoy further activities including jumping, riding out, and taking part in competitions. Riding tuition is backed up with practical and theoretical stable management through lectures and videos in our lecture rooms.
Adult beginners
Adult beginners of any age are taught to ride under the supervision of qualified staff on well-schooled horses in a safe and controlled environment.
Advanced riding
More advanced tuition enables the experienced rider to take part in competitions such as show jumping, dressage, cross country, side saddle etc. Pony Club and Riding Club activities are available either on your own horse or on a NHEC horse/pony.
Weekend clubs
At Newton Hall, we offer a range of weekend riding clubs to cater for a wide range of interest and experience.
NEHC riding courses
Our Instructional courses are held throughout the year and provide all levels of tuition. Courses are normally for 5 or 7 days duration. By request, members can look after a horse or pony for the week under supervision.
