I LOVE sport.

Then again, don't most of us have a sport we love. And it's not all football either.

In Ipswich of course, we are lucky to have loads of great sports teams (yes I even think Keano (it is Keano isn't it?), will get it right at Portman Road.

Now over the last couple of weekends Ipswich has been the venue for two VERY different sporting events and I was lucky enough to be at both of them.

The first was St Josephs College National Schools Rugby Festival and is it me or are they growing them alot bigger nowadays.?

I could not believe those great strapping men racing up and down the rugby pitches with big booming voices were school boys!!

I can only say that I must be shrinking! It was a fantastically organised two day event with teams attending from all over the country. Well done St Josephs College . . . fantastic.

The second was the British Cycling Cyclo-Cross National Trophy Series Round 3 which was held in Chantry Park, in Ipswich.

And boy was Chantry Park transformed, with the autumn leaves blowing across the park and the endless streams of race tapes marking out the course all I can say is I take my hat off to the organisers as it must have taken hours of preparation.

With riders coming from all around the country and also from different countries the course was set to push some fantastic and at times agressive riding.

To top it off and to make us all proud of the knowledge that Ipswich has some excellent sporting facilities I discovered that Chantry Park has been awarded the 2012 European Cyclo-Cross Championships.

Ipswich . . . a great place for sport.

What do you think?
