Christmas festivities in Ipswich start tomorrow

The festivities are set to begin at midday with Nick Pandolfi from Town102 hosting the Ipswich Christmas celebrations. Pop along to see him and a variety of activity designed to keep you entertained between your Christmas shopping.

Nick says "We intend to have the Cornhill rocking to some feel good Christmas tunes and live entertainment. So, shoppers as they rush past the Cornhill with their shopping will hear plenty of festive cheer & fun, and the invitation is open for people to join us after their shopping trip to have a large sing a long with the 12 days of Christmas too".

Alongside the Town 102 presenters (Nick Pandolfi, Dave James & Paul Morris) the ever popular Martlesham Brass Band will be playing the Holly and the Ivy, cast members from the Regent Theatre's The Wizard of Oz will also be transported from the yellow brick road to the steps of the Town Hall: Steph Fearon (BBC Finalist in Over The Rainbow) as Dorothy, Matthew McVarish ‘Raymond from CBeebies ‘Me Too!’ as the Lion, and Aaron Sidwell ‘Steven Beale from EastEnders’, the Wicked Witch’s Henchman. Plus two other cast members and some local dancers!
There will also be a large TV screen magnifying the activities and promoting town centre offers, discounts and future events. And of course, Christmas would not be Christmas without a little snowfall…

Local Ipswich band The B.Goodes (fresh from their hit gigs at Latitude and Ipswich Music day) will perform Christmas favourites live. Panto dames looking for a Christmas present will pop by for a chat, live music and the smell of roasting chestnuts, this celebration of Christmas has Ipswich at the very top of the (Evening Star!) tree.

Late night shopping in Ipswich is every Thursday on the run up to Christmas Ipswich but in the meantime bring the family along and we'll see you for a Celebration of Christmas on Sunday 27th on the Cornhill!
