On Saturday 15th February 2014, Lampton Park hosted trials to select the team to represent the London Borough of Hounslow on Sunday 13th April at the 2014 Virgin Money Giving London Mini Marathon where competitors race over the last 5km of the actual London Marathon course finishing just minutes ahead of the elite athletes.

Over 80 boys and girls aged 11-17 years competed in the trials which were organised by the boroughâs Community Sports Development Team who are part of Fusion, operator of leisure services in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow.

Community Sports Development Officer Rebecca Townsend said of the trials 'There were some very talented athletes competing, with many aiming for a top seven finish to secure their place on the Hounslow Team. The top time of the day was achieved by Harry Matthews of St Mary's Richmond AC who ran a very impressive time of 15:34 minutes in the U17's boy's race, while the female performance of the day came from Charlotte Buckley of Thames Valley Harriers in the U13 girl's race, completing the course in a very speedy 19:12 minutes. A special mention goes to the three groups of siblings who qualified making the Hounslow team a real 'family affair'; they were Ryan and Michael Moran, Charlotte; Max and Thomas Buckley and Tom and Alex Bagnall who finished 1st and 2nd in the U13 boys race respectively.'
