You'd never guess from the outside of this museum tucked away on Queen Street in Hitchin what wonders there are to discover inside. Firstly, it's huge! There are four amazing classrooms depicting school life from the pre-Victorian right through to the late 1960s. Then there are the Headmaster's House, Discovery Room, Exhibition Room, cafe and shop. You're going to need half a day at least to see it all!

I visited last year (2013) and thought it was wonderful. Much bigger than it looks from outside and really interesting old classrooms and displays inside. Grandchildren loved it too - lots of activities for them.

What a gem - not just a museum, but a place for fun with their school holiday events for all ages, a place for local history, and for great exhibitions. There's a small cafe too that sells superb cheese scones most days.
