Fancy a cuppa?

If you're craving coffee late at night or fancy a bacon roll after midnight, there's a new place to go.

Right opposite The Ivory sits Harvey's sandwich bar, taken over just four months ago by Paul Galatis. Only this week, Paul's been granted his late-night hot food licence. "Now I can serve bacon and sausage baps, hot sausage rolls, pizza slices and potato wedges into the early hours," Paul told me, when I popped in late on Friday night.

Certainly his cups of tea are good (and cheap!) and you can trust the quality of his food - Paul was awarded a prestigious 5* rating for his hygiene at the most recent inspection.

"I've always wanted to give this business a go," Paul said. "Im doing good business during the day, especially in sandwiches and jacket potatoes. I decided to try opening from 9pm to 3am to see whether I can offer good quality snacks and hot drinks to people coming out of clubs and pubs later on.

"Hitchin seems to be full of nice people and I've had a good reaction so far to this new bit of my business. Let's see how it takes off!"
