This chippie is awesome. The fish and chips are totally old school. I come from the seaside where there are a lot of chippies so am extremely qualified when it comes to differentiating a good chippie from a bad one!

Always go here - Battered sausage, chips and a dvd whilst Blockbuster is still going. I dragged the wife down here whilst she was in labour! Cone of chips and a Bill Bailey video!

The fish and chips are always top quality never soggy or overcooked and are always served with a smile. I have eaten in and taken away and its handy sometimes to ring my order through and know all I have to do is collect it.

This is the only fish and chip shop I go to in Hitchin. The fish is always beautifully fresh and the chips are not laden with grease.

My husband and I visit The Town Fryer in Hitchin.

We both agree it has the best fish & chips locally (and we know), and they also offer a Senior Citizens rate for fish & chips. The produce is always fresh and not reheated as some fish shops do; with screwed up chips and baked hard fish. No! The Town Fryer cooks the fish almost as you wait. I noticed yesterday that when I ordered the 2 fish portions that were in the hot compartment, a request was made for 2 more to replace those that we had.

We highly recommend their food.
