There has been a lot in the press lately about Hitchin Town Hall and proposed plans for it's conversion into a District Museum.  There is a full proposal which you can view here  .  A petition has been drawn up and at least 3,100 signatures of Hitchin residents are needed.  If you have ever used the Town Hall and want to see it kept for community use, then you need to sign the petition.

There are dates of meetings when you can go and find out more about the proposed conversion plans of Hitchin Town Hall.  These are:-

  • Hitchin Town Talk (before Hitchin Committee) 6.15pm - 7.15pm  Tuesday 22nd September
  • Hitchin Committee 7.30pm Tuesday 22nd September Westmill Community Centre, John Barker Place, Hitchin
  • Scrutiny Committee Tuesday 13th October 2009 7.30pm Committee Room at Gernon Road Letchworth
  • Cabinet Meeting Tuesday 20th October 2009 7.30pm Council Chambers Gernon Road, Letchworth

If anyone wants to sign the petition, please email Keep Hitchin Special keephitchinspecial@ntlworld.com or go into the Hitchin Initiative office in Churchyard.
