What a busy time it is in town for us during June! Having just updated the events page on the site we have a whole host of treats for all the family ahead with of course the Hinckley Carnival 2009 less than two weeks away now.
During June and July the bandstand in the Mead will come alive with a host of music for every taste with events on the 6th and 20th June and then every Saturday in July. In addition to the regular Farmer's Market, which takes place on the third Thursday in every month, Hinckley town centre will also be the host for the Hinckley stages of the Rally of the Midlands for the motor rally enthusiasts and yet more music with Proms in the Park. Add to this the road race on the 24th June and the Veteran's Day celebration on the 25th and it does really become a busy calendar!
But that's not all because we also have Father's Day of course on June 21st, time to take Dad out to lunch or dinner at the newly refurbished Marina Brewers Fayre and then out to a show in the evening to the Concordia Theatre for the APPLAUSE Somewhere show. This show is of particular value to the local community since some of the net proceeds of this and the other APPLAUSE events across Leicestershire will be coming back to Hinckley to support the Matthew Fulham Foundation (which of course, in partnership with the Borough Council organises the Proms in the Park event) and Menphys.
Certainly this list of just the main events in Hinckley puts a lie to a conversation between two young people that I overheard the other day when one said to the other that there's nothing to do in Hinckley! Well, join in and have fun.
PS If there is nothing in the list of great family events above of remote interest to you 'young people' of Hinckley then leave a comment below and let me know what it is that you would actually like to see, hear or do in town!!
