The London Borough of Hillingdon
Hillingdon is a vibrant Greater-London Borough with a character all of its own. Home to around 250,000 residents and representing a vast range of nationalities and cultures. The Borough's 42 square miles makes Hillingdon the 2nd largest London Borough. Within the borders lie historic woodland, waterways; shopping centres, classic tree-lined suburban streets and modern, urban communities. Hillingdon contributes a great deal to the economic success of our capital city, yet it still remains one of London’s greenest Boroughs.
Hillingdon is home to London's Heathrow Airport and a gateway to the world. The London Borough of Hillingdon was formed back in 1965, when 4 smaller districts were merged together. Standing on the western edge of London, Hillingdon Borough forms an integral part of London, while maintaining strong links with its neighbouring counties. The Hillingdon borough combines urban settings with areas of beautiful countryside. The protected ‘green belt’ is of crucial importance to the future development of the Hillingdon Borough.
