Experience some of world's most interesting and rarest wild animals right here in Hertfordshire! Paradise Wildlife Park once had a not so great reputation as far as zoos go back in the early 80's. But when current owners the Sampson family purchased the site in April 1984 they quickly changed the reputation of this wonderful zoo.
The 1990's saw the most dramatic development in the zoos history when more spacious enclosures were built which then led to 'Tiger Lodge' which housed Bengal and Siberian tigers being opened in 1994. A great deal of modernisation took place during this time including 3 brand new adventure playgrounds and better disability access. An extensive on and off site education programme was born around this time as well and has continued to this date educating local schools around Hertford and the surrounding area about animal conservation.
Recently last year a new Snow Leopard section was added and 'Tiger Lodge' was renamed and renovated as 'Big Cat Territory', with the additions of a Jaguar enclosure. The extremely endangered White Lions were successfully introduced to the park and to great accolade two baby White Lion Clubs were born in 2010! Other new additions are 'The Angkor Reptile Temple' which plays host to lots of different snakes, lizards, tortoises, arachnids and various other creepy crawlies, this is a big hit with the many visitors to the zoo. Newly renovated small mammal and small primates enclosures feature as part of the 'Wonders of the Rainforest'. The 'Birds of Paradise Arena' shows brilliant flying displays and new species are arriving all of the time. The newest additions though are the Humboldt Penguins in their brand new enclosure and their regular feeding sessions have already become a star attraction at the park, also new is a collection of Lemurs, again in brand new enclosures. It's continuing additions and investment such as in these animals, that positions Paradise Wildlife Park as the best zoo in the county and keeps the visitors coming back for more.
It's not all about the animals though. There has been big investment in a new 'On Safari Adventure Golf Course' , 'Tiger Falls Gold Panning' and a children's craft area. Also there is 'The National Speedway Museum', indoor play area 'Tumble Jungle' and a very special 'Secret Garden'.
For the park's continuing development of animal conservation education a brand new Discovery Centre is fully equipped with state of the art audio-visual facilities and meeting and conference rooms.
The legacy that Paradise Wildlife Park would like to leave behind is to continue in its investment programme to ensure that it remains as one of the most successful and best Wildlife Parks for education, conservation and preservation of wildlife in Britain.
