Would it not be great to find out more about what Hertford and Ware have to offer?  Well, here is your chance:  another Heritage Open Days Weekend is heading our way, well the 20th Heritage Open Days Weekend in fact… But what are they?

Heritage Open Days were established in 1994 as England’s contribution to the European Heritage Days.  The scheme was started 3 years earlier to increase the appreciation for Europe’s cultural assets and their care and protection.    The idea behind it was simple:  “ to throw open the doors to historic monuments and buildings, in particular those normally closed to the public”.

The access to the buildings taking part had to be offered free of charge during the Heritage Days.  

These days are held annually in September across Europe, and Hertford and Ware are opening 12 buildings for you to see and appreciate:

1. Brickendonbury
