Former nursing home assistant, 73 year old Doris Birch has been receiving some unwanted attention from a mischievous spirit. The night time hauntings began about 4 months ago and have been getting progressively worse.
Doris has described it as "like an octopus", and claims "I felt this creepy pair of hands". She has gone down the spiritual and religious routes to try and deal with it, contacting mediums and ministers.
Doris claims that after constant grabbing at her duvet she tried sleeping without one, but then it just started shaking the mattress. A new mattress was purchased in desperation, but to no avail.
A local ghost-hunting team has now been called in, and spirit medium Ray Herne says he will draw the ghost in to him, while his wife Beryl will capture it in a 'vortex of light' and send it to the 'other side'.
The word poltergeist comes from the German word poltern 'to make a noise', and geist 'spirit'.
Let's hope this does the trick and Doris can have a decent night's sleep!
