Giving children with disabilities a pathway towards independence
Megan Baker House is a charity that was started in 2001 to promote the welfare of disabled children. All services provided by Megan Baker House are free of charge. Megan Baker House relies solely on donations.
Just to give you an idea of how much money needs to be found each year to continue to offer this free service to the children:
£1,500 a year for a child to attend Megan Baker House
£750 for a child to attend an intensive 4 week block placement
£100 would pay for an Outreach Session in a school or community centre

Megan Baker House provides Conductive Education Services, free of charge, to children and teenagers who have motor disabilities such as cerebral palsy, dyspraxia, head injury, and stroke giving them the opportunity to lead a more independent life.
Megan Baker House provides a range of Conductive Education sessions and activities appropriate to the age of the child. The purpose of this is to teach life skills and to encourage development of physical independence and also social and communication skills.
Megan Baker House also provides support to families and carers. They can offer advice and information, counseling, advocacy and mediation, referrals, befriending and mentoring.
Conductive Education's ultimate goal is to create an independent personality, enabling the individual to think for themselves and adapt their learnt skills to any situation.
Our aim is:
To teach the child to be as independent as possible.
To motivate the child to want to participate in life
To teach the child problem solving
