Could you help Marie Curie's "Angels" provide end of life care for the terminally ill in Hereford?
Most of us know someone who has died of Cancer. Cancer is the biggest killer in the UK - 40% of the population develop cancer at some time. One in four people will die from cancer and six people will die in hospital every day.
Marie Curie Cancer Care offers end of life care for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Their services are always free of charge to patients and their families. This is what makes your support invaluable.
Three out of four people say it would be their first choice to spend their final days at home, and over the past year, 22 Marie Curie Nurses - called Angels - spent nearly 12,000 hours caring for terminally ill people around Hereford and Herefordshire. These men and women died with dignity in their own home with their loved ones.
Marie Curie Cancer Care would like to support more patients in Hereford, as last year only 25% of cancer deaths occurred in the home - we would like to give more people the choice.
For over 60 years Marie Curie Nurses have been providing vital services in our community.
The team enable the family and friends to take some much needed rest.

Last year the average cost of providing a family with home nursing and support was £180 for specialised overnight nursing care and £1080 for six days of nursing a terminally ill patient at home.
This has meant a great deal to the families of these patients:
"..it was a reassurance for my father that someone else was there to help and it was a great benefit to me that I could have an uninterrupted night's sleep…. We all have the highest regard for your work and the services of the Marie Curie Nursing Service."
"Being able to have John at home provided a sense of normality in an otherwise abnormal and distressing situation. .... John was much more secure and orientated in his own surroundings and I could sleep when he did rather than sit in a chair by a hospital bed. The difference Marie Curie Cancer Care made to our life as a family in these final days of John's life was immense."
Your support, either as a business or individual, would be gratefully appreciated as it could have an immediate impact upon those patients in Herefordshire that are currently terminally ill.
Marie Curie Cancer Care depends on an army of volunteers to support our work in both care and fundraising.
The daffodil is the emblem of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Every March we run the Great Daffodil Appeal with street collections and other fundraising events nationwide. If you would like to volunteer contact us now.
