Local charity, The Face of Henley, is delighted to be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2012. To raise awareness and additional funds for the charity, The Face of Henley has teamed up with photographers Janet Hanton and Claire Smith for a special portrait project entitled '100 Faces of Henley' which is designed to celebrate the spirit and diversity of the community in Henley and the surrounding area.
From Thursday 19th April until Tuesday 24th April anyone from Henley or the surrounding area can pop along to the Old Fire Station Gallery in Henley town centre any time between 10am and 5pm (no appointments necessary) to have their picture taken and be part of this exciting project.
Photo sessions will be free, quick and fun with the emphasis on capturing an interesting, character image that reflects your personality, job or hobby. So any relevant props you'd like to bring along will be very welcome! Our aim is to create a visual representation of the spirit and diversity of the community in Henley and the surrounding area.
Later in the year, from Thursday September 27th until Tuesday October 2nd, the Old Fire Station Gallery will host an exhibition of the '100 Faces of Henley' chosen to best represent all aspects of the Henley community. Individual portraits will be available for sale as will a commemorative book featuring all 100 chosen portraits. There will also be the opportunity to vote for your favourite 'Face of Henley'. The person with the most votes will win a framed copy of their portrait worth over £200.
The Face of Henley supports local people in their time of need when, perhaps, their particular need wouldn't be catered for by some of the better-known charities. Over the past 10 years they have raised in excess of £70,000 and helped more than 40 local people and organisations.
