HISTORY

Marlene Simpson first started the Shetland Show & Highland Fair in 1980.

Marlene met Averill Moat, the Matron, in 1979 who asked if she could bring a Shetland up for one of the patients to see. Tony Ormsby, the Chairman at the time, asked Marlene on the visit with the Shetland if she could help fundraise for the newly opened home.

30 years later, Sarah Buckner (Marlene's daughter) together with her childhood friend Charlotte Snowden (whos sister Sophie died at the home in 1995) are resurrecting the show in order to raise money for the home once again.

Over the years of putting on the show, many celebrities supported the fundraising event including Peter Davidson, John Noakes & Bob Champion. Below is some of the press coverage and photos from the original shows.
