Following on from the outstandingly successful Recession Networking Event held in March 2009, Henley MP, John Howell, is now hosting a follow-up event in Henley on Thursday 18^th March at 6pm at The Henley College, Deanfield Avenue. 

The event is organised by Recession Networking Events and supported by The Hotel du Vin and Hot Gossip. 

The principal aim of the evening is to ensure that local businesses are in good shape for when the recovery comes by

(1)   supporting local businesses to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible;

(2)   identifying sources of robust support for the self-employed in the area;

(3   setting up a job club for those who have faced, or are potentially facing, unemployment.

In addition, the event will again provide opportunities for good business networking.  John said this week:

“At the bottom of what has been the deepest and longest recession we have faced, I was pleased to host a Recession Networking event last year to help Henley businesses come together to support each other.

“We are still on stormy economic seas. On 1 March the pound reached a ten-year low against the dollar and our national debt is heading towards £1.5 trillion. Many local businesses are still finding it difficult to get credit from their banks.

“This seemed a good time to host a follow-up to help businesses get in shape for any up-swing when it comes and to stay afloat in what is still for many a financial and economic storm.”

What’s more, you need to know that John Howell has arranged for everyone offering professional advice and support services to offer reduced rates for any work commissioned at the event.

Programme

The evening will start at 6pm with informal networking and an opportunity to visit the many stands on offer.  Excellent and practical presentations will run between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on topics geared to key issues for local businesses, self-employed, employed and unemployed.  These are:-

JobCentre Plus, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and  BusinessLink will all be available to talk about the particular focus of the advice and support they can offer.
