Rory Bremner, one of our best known comedians has kindly agreed to speak at the annual Autistica lunch at Cliveden on Thursday, 26th April. Rory, who is a Scottish impressionist, as well as playwright and comedian has most recently been in the spot light for his part in Strictly Come Dancing.
The lunch will be held at the glittering former home of the Astor family, Cliveden, near Maidenhead on Thursday, 26th April 2012.
Rory has been entertaining us for over 25 years, however, behind the comic persona of this much loved comedian is a man who has difficulty focussing, loses the thread and takes on too many tasks. Rory had always put his chaotic lifestyle down to personality, however he has recently publicly recognised that his behaviour bears many of the classic characteristics of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - ADHD.
Autistica is the largest UK charity raising funds for medical research to improve diagnosis, advance new treatments and discover the causes of autism and associated disorders. The primary aim is always to bring real benefits to people with autism and their families. Autism is a life-long brain disorder that is normally diagnosed in early childhood and affects 1 in 100 people in the UK today.
Lynn Hart, Head of Events for Autistica says: “We are absolutely thrilled and honoured that Rory has agreed to speak at our 7th anniversary lunch. We look forward to hearing more about his life, possibly be treated to some of his brilliant impersonations and learn what life was really like on Strictly Come Dancing! It will be a fabulous day and we are very grateful to Rory for agreeing to speak.”
Guests can enjoy a champagne reception on the magnificent terrace with views over the River Thames, a delightful 3 course lunch, with wine and tea or coffee. The ticket price is £80 per person. After the lunch programme, a short Butlers Talk will take place and then guests can spend the day strolling around the stunning 400 acres of National Trust grounds or relaxing in the luxurious surroundings of Cliveden.
