The Chocolate Theatre Café was first conceived back in 1999 by talented Chef Patissier and Chocolatier, Roy Hastings. His dream had always been to open his own French Patisserie and bring all that the continental cafe has to offer to the Thames Valley. He opened his first café in Windsor 11 years ago and following on from its success, has now done the same in Henley-on-Thames.
Now the Chocolate Theatre Café concept is enjoyed by residents and visitors from all over the world alike.
Roy originally trained in a large London hotel under the guidance of 3 master patissiers from the Dorchester Hotel. Having spent the last 30 years perfecting his skill as a Master Patissier and Chocolatier, he and his wife Maria and business partners Vivienne and her husband stunt man Gary Connery decided to set up a continental café of the highest quality in Henley-on-Thames as well as Windsor.
The dramatic name was born from Roy's amazing patisserie, cake and chocolate creations that are theatre in themselves. Roy's passion for creating new textures, flavours and heavenly taste combinations are what the Chocolate Theatre Café is all about.
Using the finest, freshest and wherever possible, locally produced ingredients at an affordable price, Roy's creations are an art in themselves. You can't help but fall in love with The Chocolate Theatre Café - even if you're not a chocoholic!
If you visit when Roy is in the house creating his masterpieces, you might even find him putting the finishing touches to one of his fabulous gateaux or baking fresh scones - or if you're really lucky he may even let you have a go at dipping some strawberries in chocolate. If not, you could just settle for one of the 25 different varieties of hot chocolate on offer, made from real Belgian Couverture chocolate.
As well as producing cakes, patisserie, chocolate and food to die for, the team at the Chocolate Theatre Café work very hard to ensure your service is not only swift, but comes with a smile. Giving a very warm welcome is very important to Roy and the team and so staff are highly trained in customer care.
