Berkshire and former Henley Director of Cricket leads England Disability Squad for the first ever International Physical Disabilities Series.

Selectors recently named a 15-player squad to represent England in the first ever International Physical Disabilities Series. Head Coach for the tour will be former Henley CC Director of Cricket and ECB Level 4 qualified coach, Chris Ellison. Captain, Jimmy Williams (Cheshire) and Chris Ellison as Head Coach will lead England as they take on Pakistan Physical Disabilities squad in three 40-over matches and two Twenty20 matches at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai in February 2012. This will be the first ever international cricket series between two teams of physically disabled players where both teams are recognised and endorsed by the governing body of cricket in their country.  The staging of this series highlights the clear player pathway for disabled cricketers in England and Wales which has been developed over recent years through the partnership work of ECB and disability sports organisations.

This achievement is recognition of the work Berkshire Cricket and Henley Cricket Club has played in Chris’s development. Chris gained his ECB Level 1 Award (now UKCC 1) in 2003. With passion and determination Chris has progressed through the ECB Coaching pathway achieving the prestigious Level 4 qualification in November 2008. Chris continues his work in Berkshire and Henley supporting the county age group programme, junior coaching programme at Henley CC, delivering cricket in many schools and colleges and leading his coaching company, Performance Cricket. The next training camp for the England PD side takes place over the weekend of the 10th and 11th December in Shropshire.
