The team at Lancaster & Thorpe Opticians in Ripley is celebrating becoming part of the Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care business.

It follows the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, of 19 Rayner Group branches by Birmingham founded Scrivens.

The acquisition safeguards 75 jobs in total, including five positions at the Lancaster & Thorpe branch in Oxford Street. The team will continue to provide the friendly and professional optical service that has been provided to local people for the last 50 years.

Branch manager Emma Baldwin said: “Scrivens is a well-respected, family owned business that recognises the value of providing quality optical services on local high streets. We are delighted to be joining the ‘family’ and to have the opportunity to provide a seamless service experience for our existing and new customers.”

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care was founded 75 years ago and now has 171 stores. All 19 Rayner Group branches will remain open and will be fully rebranded to Scrivens Opticians in June 2014.
