THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

IPSWICH WANDERERS 0   HAVERHILL ROVERS 0

A much more convincing Haverhill performance than their 8-1 loss in the reverse fixture 18 days earlier saw them take a point at Ipswich.

The first half saw the home side making the chances, Craig Jennings putting five efforts either over, wide or at goalkeeper Jack Cherry, Haverhill’s sole reply coming when a Simon Newnes volley was collected by home ‘keeper Jack Spurling.

A tight first period was followed by another, Perry Moody shooting over the home bar from distance and David Head shooting at Cherry as shots seemed to come more from frustration rather than build up play as Haverhill held firm and their opponents were found lacking a “Plan B” at times.

Luke Read’s 25 yard effort on 89 minutes was well held by Cherry in the final chance of the match.

ROVERS : Cherry, Holmes, Gardner, Elkins, Farrant, Alleyne, Moody, Newnes, Sigler, Abbott, Murray (Burr, 59). Subs not used – Shulver, Stevenson.

Man of the match : Simon Newnes.
