This summer two fire fighters from Haslemere Fire Station are planning to take on an endurance driving fundraiser in an old Rover Mini Cooper. The intention is to drive from Surrey to Monte Carlo and back again.
The inspiration behind the idea was the 1964 Monte Carlo rally win by Paddy Hopkirk, and the idea to do something a little different to raise awareness and funds for The Firefighters Charity (www.firefighterscharity.org), and Unicef Haiti earthquake fund (www.unicef.org).
We are offering you the opportunity to raise funds by sponsoring space on the car bodywork. The fire crews would promote the event through the media and the event would be updated throughout via web blog and video diary. The car can be seen on the event website www.fireballrun.co.uk.
We are aiming to raise in excess of £5000 from the event, with each logo on the car raising a minimum of £200 towards the total. Of course, if you would like to support this in a greater capacity that would be fantastic!
If you are also able to provide logistical support such as resources, assistance with ferry travel, communications, navigation equipment and fuel then support in this way is also vital and helps towards the overall total for the charities.
