At the age of 18, I decided to tell my parents that I was gay and this wasnât an easy decision. It was hard for me to say and hard for them to hear. When I went to see a counsellor, I found someone who really listened and helped me look at my life with a new perspective and understanding. She gave me support in a way that I never thought was possible and I cannot thank her enough. It is still not an easy ride for me or for my family but at least we are talking about this in the open and they have now accepted the situation. My whole family support me and this couldnât have happened without their support. Arnold R.
I felt so guilty that I was not able to look after my elderly parents in the way I wanted to. It was a challenging time in my life for me. I went to see a counsellor and she gave me a new understanding and helped me to manage the many demands on my time . With appreciation. Charles C.
My son is dependent on drugs and consulting a counsellor has given me a greater understanding of his situation plus some guidance as to where to seek additional help for him and for all of our family. It is reassuring to know that she is always there to give advice when needed. Angie P. Watford
My partner and I were experiencing sexual difficulties and really didnât appreciate how much this was affecting our lives. It wasnât an easy decision to go and see a counsellor but I now wish we would have done it sooner. We now have a much stronger relationship. Ann W. London
I had a car accident, after which I couldnât sleep at night and kept on thinking back to the incident. My father suggested that I go and see a Trauma counsellor and to start off with I wasnât very keen. But I did go and he has helped me to understand why I am feeling like I am and I am really better able to cope with my life now. I canât thank you enough as it was such a scary experience. James T. Hertfordshire
We been married for over 20 years and had stopped communicating with each other. Seeing a relationship counsellor was the best decision we have ever made and she has enriched our lives in a way that we would not have thought was possible. Jan and Henry P. Stanmore, Middx.
I was working 24/7 and the job stress was really getting to me. I went to my doctor as I had chest pains. He took an ECG which was satisfactory and said he thought it was stress and suggested I go and see Carole. I was hesitant at first as I thought I didnât need counselling. I was so wrong. I have now been seeing her for the past 3 months and she has guided me back on track and I am now eating properly, sleeping at night for the first time in years and make time for my family and friends. A thank you is not really enough. Jane R
âI wasnât sleeping at night and was suffering panic and anxiety attacks. I went to the doctor and he gave me sleeping pills which did help but I didnât want to become dependent on them. He then suggested I could go and see a stress counsellor as there might be some underlying issues. I was hesitant at first but I felt comfortable immediately. I have been working through some of my stress-related issues and I have had to re-evaluate my life plan as it really wasnât working. I now keep a stress diary, eat healthily and exercise every day. Simple things that make all the difference. I now have my life backâ. Michael R. Central London
My husband died 3 months ago from prostate cancer and I really did not know which way to turn. My doctor suggested I see a bereavement counsellor and I have been seeing him for the past 2 months. I now feel that I am now beginning to come to terms with my loss. His sensitivity and caring is second to none. Mary L. Middx
âI canât thank you enough for your ongoing support during what was a very difficult time in my life. You really understood my needs and had a real empathy with me. I donât know how I would have managed to make this move in my life, without you by my side. My heartfelt thanks go to you.â Jane P. North London
I was made redundant 6 months ago and became extremely depressed. My wife suggested that I go and see Carole and for the first time, I can now see my way forward with a new life plan in place. I am now positive about the future and my ability to go forward. With gratitude. Bill C. [Former CEO of a blue-chip company].
