A Wetherby student has set her sights on a top modelling contract after she was selected from hundreds of hopefuls in the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

Rosie Bridger became a regional semi-finalist and is set to compete in the Yorkshire semi-final this month. Rosie says: ‘I’ve been wearing my glasses since I was 15 and I feel very happy and confident in them. I’m thrilled to be going to the regional final. I never thought that being a specs wearer would help me win the chance to model and when I entered I had my photo taken outside my University in London, I never imagined I would get through! It would be amazing to make it to the final and wave the flag for Wetherby.

“This competition is an amazing opportunity to show that specs are cool. With so many different styles to choose from these days, us glasses wearers are spoiled for choice and glasses are the perfect accessory to match your outfit or even your mood.”

If she is successful, Rosie will be in the frame to strut down the catwalk at London's iconic Battersea Power Station in a glitzy grand final on October 30th. Specsavers style ambassador and TV fashion guru Gok Wan will host the ceremony, whilst a panel of industry experts judge the contestants' specs appeal!
