Pride in Diversity Harrogate

Harrogate is due to have its first-ever Pride in Diversity Festival & Parade from the 14th – 20th May 2017.  The event is being chaired by Leonora Wassell, a minister of the Methodist church.  The aim is to raise awareness and foster inclusion for all.  There will be several events taking place as part of the festival including arts events, an civic celebration, a picnic at Valley Gardens and the Parade itself.

It’s time to celebrate diversity and to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, disabled, inter- faith and other diverse communities within the Harrogate district.

All events are free, and are taking place at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate, 7pm onwards. Book tickets at www.eventbrite.co.uk

  • Mon, 15 May - Diversity in Art & Literature (prize presentations & poetry)
  • Tue, 16 May – Diversity in Action (discussions about work within the community)
  • Wed, 17 May – Diversity in Sport (Harrogate Town AFC &  LGBT Rugby Club)
  • Thu, 18 May – Diversity in Performing Arts (Pauline Quirke Academy & Harrogate Theatre)
  • Fri, 19 May – Faithful Conversation (A humanist, a Jew, a Muslim, a Christian & a Buddhist – open question time)
  • Sat, 20 May – Pride in Diversity Parade & Party:
    • 10am – Civic Celebration (Ballroom, The Crown Hotel) 
    • 12noon – Parade – Open air-bus transporting dignitaries & invited guests to tour the town finishing at Montpellier Hill, the parade will then begin and make its way to the Valley Gardens
    • 12-6pm – Party in the Park – bands, stalls, face painting, bring a picnic...
    • 8pm onwards – Evening Party at Viper Rooms (free entry till 10pm, wristbands avail at the party in the park)
