Make a big splash in Harlow for Alzheimer’s Society
Swimmers of all ages are encouraged to take part in the Alzheimer’s Society sponsored swim held at Stewards School swimming pool in Harlow on Saturday 25th February 2012.
Alzheimer’s Society relies on fundraised income to continue its vital work, and holds an annual sponsored swim to support its local services. This year the charity hopes to raise over £3,000 to support its work.
The popular event will take place on 25th February at Stewards School pool from 3.30pm. Swimmers of all ages and abilities are welcome, and each swimmer chooses the number of lengths they’d like to attempt. The school, club, or organisation that raises the most money will be presented with the coveted ASDA shield in recognition of their efforts.
Alzheimer’s Society volunteer, Luong Hang, says: “You can’t predict the future and dementia can strike anybody, so I feel that it is important to help raise awareness about this terrible condition. With the Olympics on its way lots of people are taking part in sporting events and the swim is a great way to help out a good cause and get some exercise at the same time!”
Jade Rolph, community fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Essex says: “The Society is extremely grateful to the volunteers who have organised this swim. It’s a fun event and which is open to everyone, and I hope the community will support our cause by signing up in droves.”
For more information or to enter the swim, please email Lynn.Snell@alzheimers.org.uk or call Jade Rolph on 07540921233. Swimmers must enter in advance of the event.
