Contact the Elderly is a small national charity with branches in Hackney that aims to alleviate the loneliness and social isolation experienced by older people living in Hackney who live alone with little or no support from family or friends and who can no longer get out on their own. We are a registered charity that cares about lonely elderly people in Hackney.

Our local group in the Hackney area needs volunteer drivers to pick up 1-2 older people from their home one Sunday afternoon a month and take them to a host family for an afternoon tea. It doesn’t matter how big your car is, as long as you are reliable and can commit yourself to a few hours each month.

Contact The Elderly are also looking for volunteer hosts who would enjoy organising a social afternoon/ tea party in their home. All you need is easy access into your house or flat, a downstairs toilet and seating for about 6-8 elderly people. 

Please think about joining us. All of our volunteers can vouch for the pleasure these outings give to the older people - and to themselves.
