Guildford’s Christmas Lights
6th November 2013

The Christmas market starts at 10am on 21 November in the High Street – come and start your Christmas shopping! Santa’s grotto opens in the Friary Centre at noon and then there’s fun for the kids all afternoon with appearances from Peppa Pig, Newfoundland dogs (aw!) and Dinosaurs from Dinosaur Zoo as well as jugglers and free facepainting. The climax of the day comes at 7pm with the Christmas lights being switched on by the all star cast of Guildford’s panto, including Bonnie Langford and some singing elves from GLive. After that there’s a fireworks display and the whole event comes to a close at 8pm. The event is organised by Guildford council; for a full timetable, please visit their website.

The event is free but there will be a collection in the High Street for the halowproject. The halowproject supports young people with learning disabilities on their journey into adult life. The charity offers one-to-one support and activities to increase social interaction and it has helped countless families in the Guildford area. If you would like to volunteer, either taking charge of a collecting bucket or manning the charity’s card and gift stall, call Hannah at the halowproject on 01483 447960 – she’d love to hear from you!

You know, I’m actually starting to feel quite Christmassy....
