Free Wi-Fi at Surrey Libraries

For those of you who don’t already know, free Wi-Fi is now available at all Surrey libraries. This is a great thing on a number of levels. For starters, it’s very good news for those of us who work from home. If we keep getting distracted by the washing up or absently putting on the TV, the library might be somewhere we can find a bit more focus. The library’s free Wi-Fi is also there for when our home or office internet is out of action or for that awkward no-internet period just after you move house. You can also use the library PCs to go online – ideal if your laptop’s out for repairs. Unlike a coffee shop, the library is completely free to use – you won’t be trying to spin out a tepid cappuccino in an attempt to justify your presence!

If you aren’t already a member of the library, this is a great reason to join as you’ll need a library card number to log in. If that sounds like a bit of a hassle, remember too that your membership’s helping the library. Many libraries are under threat in these difficult times but they really are a fantastic resource, providing not only books but also e-books, maps, newspapers and computer use FREE to everyone, not to mention hosting a huge range of talks, reading groups and family book sessions. The more members libraries have, the more likely they are to be kept open to continue supporting their local communities.
