Opened in 1965 as a fitting memorial to the much loved French actress who made the town her home, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre has grown to become one of the finest regional theatres in the UK, with a main stage and smaller, Mill Studio playing host to an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary productions by both famous and lesser known writers.
Under the directorship of James Barber, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre has created numerous productions that have gone on to tour and transfer to the West End. The Mill Studio
1993 saw the opening of the Mill Studio at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, providing the perfect venue for experimental arts theatre that would not otherwise been seen in Guildford. The 80 seat theatre also plays host for the Youth Theatre's extensive range of activities.
In 1997, its success was rewarded with a Lottery grant and since then, the facilities have been upgraded and the audience and amount of productions have increased.
The Mill Studio is now a lively, successful theatre in its own right, with numerous professional companies regularly staging small scale arts productions.
