Responding swiftly to 999 calls, the Surrey Air Ambulance delivers medical crews and doctors to emergency sites and transports patients to hospitals and specialist units 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As one of the most essential charitable organisations covering Guildford, Surrey and Sussex, we rely almost entirely on the generosity of local people to continue our service.
Did you know that until June 2007, Surrey was the one of the few counties in the UK that didn't have its own Helicopter Emergency Service (HEMS)?
In 2005, the Surrey Air Ambulance Appeal was launched and two years later, the Surrey Air Ambulance began delivering medical crews to accident and emergency sites and transporting patients to hospital at a fraction of the time taken by a road ambulance.
The service is based at Dunsfold Park and provides residents in Guildford, Surrey and the neighbouring county of Sussex with an emergency helicopter 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
As a registered charity, the Surrey Air Ambulance receives absolutely no Government or Lottery funding; it is funded entirely by charitable donations and sponsorship.
Costing £1.7 million per year, we rely on your support and generosity to keep our essential service going.

Become a Volunteer
We currently have 45 volunteers who kindly offer their time and effort to help us during our fundraising events.
From 16 to over 80, our volunteers come from all walks of life and all receive training.
The Surrey Air Ambulance is always on the lookout for more volunteers to lend their support and time:

· Event Volunteers
Schools
A visit from a member of the team at the Surrey Air Ambulance is a fascinating for school children of all ages.
Children will gain an insight into helicopters and clinical procedures and will learn about the charity's infrastructure, community involvement and social responsibility.
