They trounced X-factor’s Little Mix to last year’s Christmas No 1 with ‘Wherever You Are’ and now race-goers at Sandown Park Racecourse can enjoy the Military Wives Choir performing live after racing on Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day supporting Help for Heroes on Friday 17th February.

The choir is made up of wives and girlfriends of British servicemen fighting for you and I in Afghanistan, were brought together by choirmaster Gareth Malone for the BBC2 series The Choir.  Their meteoric success and nationwide popularity has given them the fastest selling single since 2008.

Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day falls over half term - what a great family day out!.  There’ll also be a performance from the much loved War Horse puppet Topthorn in the Parade Ring and best-selling author and former Children’s Laureate, special guest, Michael Morpurgo, will also be present.

As an extra treat, race-goers can buy the book War Horse from Michael Morpurgo on the day.

This is one of Sandown Park’s oldest races having run at the racecourse since 1863, getting bigger and better with every passing year.  It is restricted to horses that are owned by members or ex-members, of the Royal Regiment of Artillery.  The jockeys, too, must be past or present members of the Armed Forces.
