The Straits (basically The Dire Straits but without Mark!) are now bringing back to life the original band's catalogue of music live on stage. This is no tribute act as in the genial Alan Clark on keyboards, the splendid Chris White on saxophone and guitarist Phil Palmer, The Straits feature three members who played in Dire Straits.

Following an amazing debut show at the Royal Albert Hall, and the subsequent public demand to hear the bands much loved catalogue of great songs; Alan Clark, Chris White & Phil Palmer from Dire Straits ,have just completed a successful 14 date UK and European tour with their new band " The Straits " .
Former Dire Straits members are joined by world class musicians Steve Ferrone, Terence Reis, Mick Feat and Jamie Squire perform the band's greatest hits.
The Band
Alan joined Dire Straits in 1980 as their first keyboard player and played a significant part in their transformation into one of the world's biggest bands. Acknowledged by his fellow band members as Dire Straits' unofficial musical director, he co-produced the band's last studio album On Every Street. Alan has played and recorded with many other high profile artists including Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Tina Turner and the Bee Gees.
Chris White provided and is best known for his saxophone sound with Dire Straits. His work with the band included the "Brothers in Arms" and " On Every Street" World Tours, the "On Every Street" and "On The Night" albums, and the legendary "Live Aid" and "Mandela" concerts. More recently, Chris has performed on two of Mark Knopfler's solo albums. Outside of this association, he has recorded and performed live with many great artists, including Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and Robbie Williams.
Phil Palmer joined Dire Straits for their On Every Street tour, having come to their attention after quietly and consistently building a career out of playing tasteful, intelligent and musical guitar with a long list of well known artists that includes Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Sting, Roger Daltry, Take That, Wishbone Ash and producer Trevor Horn. As a result, Phil is regarded as one of the UK's foremost session musicians.
Born in Maputo, Mozambique, Terence Reis grew up playing the guitar in the idiosyncratic style of the local finger picking street musicians. Terence was handpicked as the front man for The Straits for his voice, which has elements of Knopfler, JJ Cale and Steve Earle, and his guitar technique that's remarkably similar to Knopfler's own.
Steve Ferrone is acknowledged by his peers as one of the world's greatest drummers and first came to the world's attention with The Average White Band. He has also played with a long list of high profile acts including Tom Petty, Eric Clapton and Quincy Jones.
Mick feat is an internationally renowned bassist and has worked with many different artists including Mark Knopfler, Art Garfunkel and David Gilmour.
Jamie Squire is at 24 the youngest in The Straits line up. Jamie is a highly accomplished keyboard player , singer and song writer. He is a great addition to the band!
