Announced to rapturous applause in the media - 15% of FTSE 100 directors are now women. Yes an improvement, but there is still a long way to go to reach Lord Davies' target 25% by 2015 or indeed WDF's 30% by 2020!
While most Chairmen now accept gender balance at the top is good for business, they attribute the slow progress to a lack of women being ready, willing and able to step up to senior leadership; crucially in the 30 - 40 age group, when women notably start to fall behind their male counterparts in the promotion stakes.
At the next WDF Glass Ladder meeting they will be looking at - what does it actually take for women to get to the top while they are still under 40?
On the panel for this event will be: -
Emma Roberts - Managing Director, Rothschild Trust
Helen Crossley - Group Partner, Appleby
and representing their sponsors Tracy Clarke - Director, Deutsche Bank
Together these ladies will tell us some of their own stories of climbing the "Glass Ladder" plus their views on what is needed to support more women to reach senior management in the workforce.
Glass Ladder meetings are especially for you if you are currently in a managerial role, but WDF welcomes all women who share our vision for more women in senior management.
Light refreshments will be served.
WDF Champions - Carol Goodwin, Denise Mileham, Connie Helyar, Anne Ewing, Sandra Platts.
WDF Steering Committee - Michelle Johansen (from Johansen Executive Coaching), Sharon McMillan, Sarah Hancock, Karen Martin.
