GREAT ENTERTAINMENT AND TASTY FOOD

The first Castle Night takes place on Friday 10th July and then following a week's break returns for three consecutive Fridays on 24th and 31st July and 7th August. Admission is free and the gates open between 6.00pm and 9.30pm.

Each Friday a showcase of different musicians, groups, choirs, storytellers and poets will be performing within the Castle walls with something to appeal to all ages and tastes.

The first Castle Night will also feature the Taste of Guernsey Picnic Awards. A team of judges led by the Chef Mascot will be on hand to try and find the family or group of friends which comes up with the most imaginative picnic using local food and ingredients. The makers of the winning picnic will receive a hamper of Guernsey food.

Managing Director of sponsor KPMG, Mark Thompson is looking forward to the series:

"We are delighted to be working with Culture and Leisure in supporting Castle Nights. These evenings enable people to explore one of Guernsey's most famous historical sites whilst enjoying some first class entertainment. We hope islanders and visitors will take the opportunity to come along with their picnics and soak up the atmosphere."

The line up for Friday 10th July is as follows:

Les Chansonelles

Pete Frampton

GU10

Castle Cornet is surely the perfect setting for sea shanties and songs about the sea. GU10 are an all male group that always delivers a rousing performance.

Autumn Curtis-Summers

Talented harpist Autumn makes her first appearance at Castle Nights. She brings harp music to a wider audience and her distinctive style is a mixture of classical and contemporary.

Sawdust Caesars

Local musicians Chris Dean and Colin Leach tone it down a little for an acoustic session of rock and pop classics.

Storytelling with Tony Brassell

A chance for children to catch up with the latest adventures of Ollie the Ormer, read by the man who created him.

For those who do not want to picnic Hayley and her friendly team in Cafe Lambert will have available a fine selection of food and refreshments and will also be mounting an outside barbeque.
